Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is placed over the tooth’s outside (visible area), and they are usually only used on the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The procedure can be direct or indirect.

The direct technique usually involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding.

The indirect technique typically requires two appointments since a dental laboratory creates the veneers. During the first appointment, we prepare the teeth, take impressions, and apply temporary coverings. In two to three weeks, the veneers return from the lab, and we remove the temporaries and bond the permanent versions to the teeth. These lab-made veneers, usually crafted from porcelain or pressed ceramic, offer excellent aesthetics.

Veneers require removing far less tooth material than crowns, making them a more conservative option. However, we don’t recommend them for teeth with large fillings or minimal remaining structure.
