X-RAYS
X-rays are a focused beam of particles through bone, which produces an image on a unique film, showing the structure through which it passed. They result in the familiar black and white images that doctors and dentists use to diagnose problems. They are a necessary part of the diagnostic process, and not using them could lead to undiagnosed disease. Without an X-ray of the whole tooth, and supporting bone and gum tissues, there is no real way to detect infection or pathology that requires attention.
In our office, we use digital radiography, which allows us to take X-rays using 50-70% less radiation versus conventional X-rays. Digital x-ray technology, coupled with computer monitoring, will enable us to enhance the images for better diagnosis of any dental concerns.
PANORAMIC X-RAY
At Des Moines River Dental Care, we use panoramic radiography to capture comprehensive, high-resolution images of your entire mouth. This advanced imaging technique provides a broad view of your teeth, jawbones, sinuses, and surrounding structures, helping us detect issues that might not be visible with standard X-rays. The process is quick, comfortable, and minimizes radiation exposure, ensuring a safe and thorough assessment of your oral health.
