Dental Cleanings and Checkups

In the absence of gum disease, we recommend a dental cleaning and checkup every six months.

In between appointments, tartar (calculus) may build up on the teeth, even with a regular cleaning routine. It forms when plaque on the teeth combines with components of saliva, providing a foundation for more plaque to accumulate. Severe cases of tartar buildup can lead to inflamed gums and the initial stages of gum disease, as well as cavities. This buildup can only be removed with specialized instruments and a trained hygienist.

To prevent such wear and tear on your teeth, we suggest regularly scheduling your visits. Our goal with dental cleanings is to reduce the acceleration of aging on your teeth and prevent more severe issues. If you need more specialized treatment, find out what we can do for you on our Advanced Procedures page.
