Many people do not know that dentists actually can perform oral cancer screening during dental checkups in addition to evaluating your teeth and gums. We believe it is imperative to stay alert for any suspicious abnormalities and to investigate them right away if we find them. For many types of oral cancer, early detection is the key to a good long-term prognosis.

In most cases, we will not be able to officially diagnose oral cancer, but we can refer you to the proper provider who can perform the proper diagnostic testing. While we may not have the facilities or tools to test for cancerous cells, our dentists know the signs that could lead to complications in the future. When we perform our oral cancer screenings, our goal is to make sure you can stay as healthy as possible.
