Dr. Tyler Villiard was born and raised in a small town in northern Wisconsin. Once he graduated high school, he attended Lakeland College in Sheboygan, WI, and the University of Wisconsin Madison, where he completed his Bachelor of Science in Biology. He then attended Midwestern University – College of Dental Medicine in Illinois, earning a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. While at Midwestern University, Dr. Villiard met his wife Emma, who is also a Dentist in the Des Moines area. In 2019, they welcomed their first child, Ruth, into the world. Then in 2020, they welcomed Birdie a black lab to the family.
Dr. Villiard’s philosophy of dentistry begins and ends with the patient. His job is first to examine, and then recommend what the best treatment is for the patient. The most ideal option is not always a realistic one for every individual. Dr. Villiard makes sure that each patient knows all of the available treatment options. His goal has been, and will always be, to treat each and every patient as an individual person that walks through his doors, and not just a mouth. He does this through patient education, explaining industry misperceptions about products and procedures, including preventative treatments. Dr. Villiard only uses vetted and reliable materials and techniques. This led to Dr. Tyler Villiard starting Des Moines River Dental Care in 2017.
In addition to dentistry, he has been a Carlisle Chamber Commerce member since 2017, as well as a board member since 2019, in 2020 he served as the Board Vice President, and is currently serving as Board President. Dr. Villiard is also an avid sports fan, having played baseball and coaching beyond his high school days. He enjoys cheering on the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers. His other hobbies include being outside hunting, camping, hiking, or golfing.
